Saturday

Wake up, clean up and homeward bound! What a great experience! 36,000 person hours of volunteering! Congratulations, campers and advisors! To see a video of the goodbyes, click on the underlined link "Saturday" above!

Friday

Friday was "kick back" day. We slept in---and, boy, did we need it! Some went out to breakfast; some strolled to the beach. We met up at the beach pavillion for lunch hosted by Resource Conservation and Development folk---not-for-profit agency that coordinates the projects that we do. After that it was off to Rehoboth Beach for a little strolling on the boardwalk. A beautiful day and a great way to draw an intense week to a close! We all gathered in the evening for the tradition Friday night "Circle of Love," at which many of the campers and advisors spoke movingly of their experience. What a great group of kids (and adults)! Thursday

As of Thursday there was still no internet. Verizon was working on it. The best laid plans! Once again I sat a driveway and "borrowed" a connection. The day was hot today, full sun. The kids (and adults) were ready for the beach late this afternoon. Thursday is pizza day---pizza on the beach, followed by worship on the beach.

Wednesday

Tonight we worshiped using the story of Jesus’ asking Peter, “Do you love me?” and the parable of the sheep and the goats. The kids watched a video that we made during the day, and we’d like to share excerpts from that video with you. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE EXCERPTS FROM THE VIDEO! Tuesday

For those of you who have been checking thee blog daily, we apologize for the delay in posting Tuesday’s and Wednesday's entries. The wireless internet has been down at the Lewes Presbyterian Church. The secretary here extended hospitality above and beyond the call of duty, allowing me to use her home wireless. In fact, as I post this, I am parked in her driveway late on Wednesday night! Enjoy the video of these kids hard at work. It’s really amazing how much they do, how much energy they have, and how delightful they are! Please check out the video!

Monday

The first full day was a success! Six work crews went out to roof and repair. The weather cooperated with only a brief shower. The reward for the hard work was a trip to the beach and a dip in the ocean. The "Martha Crew" prepared a tasty spaghetti dinner and the evening's program--led by Dennis Dewey, David Jones and Ed Townsend--centered on the theme "Who Are You? Face to Face with the Mystery." The Martha Crew put on a skit of the story of the temptation of Jesus. We're all looking forward to a good night's sleep and a full day of work and ocean tomorrow!
